Sitting in silence and meditation with animals provides health benefits such as relaxation, stress reduction, and a deeper connection of love, compassion, and understanding. We can also experience on an intuitive and energetic level how animals can become our healing partners and most profound life teachers.
The Japanese word Reiki means “Universal Life Force Energy” or “Spiritual Energy.” Since everything is made of energy, we can say that all things consist of Reiki. Reiki is a system of meditative and spiritual practices created by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. This system originally focused on spiritual development, and remains so today, and it has evolved into a system of energetic healing incorporating meditation and breathing techniques. Animal Reiki is a practice of meditation, compassion, and heart-to-heart connection with animals. By practicing the system of Reiki, we learn to accept all aspects of life with peace, love, compassion, grace, surrender, and an open heart.
Compassion and love are the greatest healers.
Animal Reiki is a technique of working with animals that helps them relax and reduces stress. Reiki works at a core level and has a ripple effect that helps to calm animals and also support the work of veterinarians, trainers, riders, and anyone who is in relationship with an animal. Reiki is especially helpful for rescue and shelter animals. Reiki can be offered in person or remotely.
Reiki is perfect for animals because it’s non-invasive. It’s gentle, yet powerful, doesn’t require physical contact, and it doesn’t cause any harmful effects such as pain, discomfort, or stress. Animals respond intuitively to Reiki and they understand that it supports the healing of emotional, behavioral, and physical injuries and ailments. In addition, Reiki is an excellent complement, not only to western medicine but also all other complementary and alternative methods as well.
The mission of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) is to improve the lives of animals by promoting the use of Reiki in animal shelters, sanctuaries and rescues worldwide through education, training and the advancement of Reiki programs that meet the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
Victoria is a teacher member of SARA. She volunteers at several sanctuaries and rescues and donates money from her classes to SARA.
Victoria has been working with Teddy Bear, a very sensitive and nervous rescue horse in my barn. She has been able to connect and help me to relax him and we are beginning to work on his confidence. She is a kind soft spoken woman with a gentle spirit and I’ve enjoyed working with her.
After our rescue cat Sully joined our family, he and our other cat Lucy were having trouble adjusting to each other. Because Victoria had successfully worked with 3 of our furry family members in the past, we asked her to offer Reiki to Sully and after the first session, he was more relaxed, more receptive to us touching him, and more confident about being himself. Additional Reiki sessions supported this transition and now there is less tension between them both and Sully continues to be more open to us loving on him. Seeing our babies feel better means the world to us and we have Victoria to thank for that!
Victoria is an amazing person and healer. She carries herself with a calm and genuine presence that helped my horse, Gus, accept her quickly. After several sessions of Reiki with my horse, he is performing better than ever and is more stable emotionally and physically. I know Victoria’s healing energy has played a role in his full recovery. I am so grateful to have her in my life, and healing my horse.
Victoria is a delight to work with and has a lovely, gentle nature about her. My animals and I are grateful to her for the Reiki and the benefits we’ve ALL received from it!
My cats stand by the door waiting for Victoria to come in to treat them to Reiki. They have been helped immensely in coming through some challenging health and environmental issues by Victoria’s soothing Reiki presence and abilities.
